It's shaping as a difficult game for us - 2 of the top sides head to head. The roosters will be looking to avenge us beating them in the finals of last year, much the same as we were motivated to beat the dogs after they did the same to us last Sept.

Also, many games are being decided by some luck and some of the worst refereeing ever in RL history, particularly the dopes in the video box - my god, do they have any clue?

Hoping for a big game & a Panther win, although we will miss JS - it is so much easier to shut a team down when one of the two playmakers is missing. Least we won't be playing in the sand bunkers, like on Fri night!

Wish I had my drivers license, I would have totally been at the game. No uni on Tuesdays. I'm pretty confident penrith will win this one. Soward is a set back, but I've seen enough in the trials to suggest John can handle it. He threw a soward-esque cutout pass to the winger in a nsw cup match. Looking forward to it!

at least tonight we have a 5/8 with at least some technical ability to apply a tackle.

Was going to go to the game tonight, but have had a migraine all day, so watching in the comfort of home. Pretty confident we can get up here, although I think it will be close, no more than 6 points either way.

DWZ denied what looked like a try in the corner by the video. Looked like he had his fingers on the ball the whole way down.

Segeyaro back on the field

No try decision against the Roosters (Guerra) for double movement

We have successfully held them out for 4 straight sets on our line

Half time:

Roosters 8 (Kenny-Dowall try; Maloney 2/2 goals)
Panthers 6 (Idris try; Moylan 1/1 goals)

Probably a fair reflection of the first half, although we were unlucky not to be in front, due to an interesting no try call against DWZ. They have had the better of the ball & field position. Our defence is holding up well to pressure, we need to control the ball better in attack. If the possession & field position even up, we will probably win this.

Full time

Roosters 20 (Ferguson 2, Kenny-Dowall tries; Maloney 4/4 goals)
Panthers 12 (Idris, Segeyaro tries; Moylan 2/2 goals)

We lost to a better team tonight, but would have beaten most others with that effort. We really missed Soward's kicking & direction, and that was probably the difference between the two teams.

This year I have noticed a trend - since the speeding up of the ruck.
Teams have been leading from beginning to end. With only a handful of games this year switching leaders. And most of those games led by the favorites. No upsets! Not very exciting either!
My point is you better be first to score in the game.

The Roosters always looked to have there noses in front and deserved there win.

We were gallant in defeat particularly given our completion rate wasn't the best and they are a good side.

There is no point dwelling on the no try to DWZ as the video ref situation is a joke. The NRL really need to address the situation where the on field officials have 'no idea' and are simply guessing when they make a try or no try decision.

I hate to be critical, but while he is a trier Issac John is simply not up to NRL standard. Coach Cleary needs to address this issue of who fills in for Soward in his absence but John is not the answer.

....... the video ref process is flawed and needs immediate review.

Cechin's 2nd game (after Friday night) eh. Seems we're running out of whistle blowers deemed adequate to officiate an NRL game. So what happened to his moving off the mark crusade?

Even the commentators are confused. Strike me, if they have doubts what hope has the average fan got .

The whole idea of the video referees needing to disprove the on field referees is a joke. The video refs should look at it with an open mind & come up with a decision based on what they see, not on whether or not they can disprove someone else.

Yes, it was a try. However, so was the first one for the Gold Coast against us last week.

Penrith simply beat themselves last night. Too much dropped ball, too much sideways movement. We were really schooled by the Rooster pack last night and their hard running in a forward direction laid the platform to their win.

I walked away feeling confident that it was a good lesson learned. We played terrible football and the team every commentator is considering as an early grand finalist prediction, only just beat us. I doubt we will allow ourselves to be dominated like that again.
