Half time:

Tigers 12 (Lawrence, Maiqaqa tries; Richards 2/2 goals)
Panthers 10 (Wallace, Mansour tries; Soward 1/2 goals)

We are looking better than recent games, but are still below our best. If we can go up a gear, we can win this easily.

Simmons gets his second try, in the corner again, not converted by Soward

Panthers 20-12,

This is Simmons 99th career try, hopefully he will get #100 as a hat trick today, or better still next week in front of a home crowd

Thanks Mutley......couldn't see it but I'll watch replay later. Sounds like they played awesome. Was good to be not 12 nil behind for a change.

Enjoy the win :)

I thought the first half was pretty average. However, in the second half it really looks like the found some confidence. The set plays were fluent and they looked like a team that was playing in form. Really good stuff. We haven't seen penrith like that since round 2. They should take plenty of confidence into a depleted Souths lineup on Friday Night.

Our record is 6-8 now.

Next three weeks are crucial, Souths(h), Roosters(h) and Melbourne(a).

One game at a time, no more injuries especially to our spine and we have a chance to pull off the great escape.

A chance.

Easily our best game since round 2. The Whare/Simmons combination down the right side tore the Tigers defence apart, and Wallace probably played his best game since returning to us. Only real downers were RCG,s hands during the first half turning over possession a few times, and Soward having an unhappy day with the boot. If we can play the rest of the season like we played that second half, we will be a force in September again this year.

Very happy with the win. Looks like they are getting back into their rythm now that we have a few players back.

It's hard for any team to win at leichart so a big win at a crucial time of the year now we need to build off this against some quality sides in the next few weeks
I can't believe Taylor didn't put Lawerence int the centres after simona went off Whare tore it up and took full advantage and Simmons deserved his milestone in that fashion what a great winger he has been for us
I was happy with DWZ he played well at fullback and got more involved with backline plays he will definitely get better and God he runs the ball hard I like him a lot !!
Api played well and his kick at the back hand of the game for a repeat set was first class
It was good to have Mansour back we need him to make the finals this year and Wallace had his best game of the year
Let's put a few together boys no more injuries please!!!!!!!!

This is from the "Official team vs Tigers" topic.
TalentScout wrote:
I know Deano has been out injured, but since his return, I've noticed his "line jink" is way out of timing. He needs to bring his opposing centre infield more and use the space outside him to lure their winger into making a bad decision.

Worked a treat.. I know they put Lovett there to mark him (when Simona went off injured), but, he put it on Simona to release Simmons down the wing for Wallace's try.

TalentScout wrote:
Cartright should be playing left edge.. His ball carrying arm protrudes the line before his body. His offload is 1 of our strengths. And he generally targets the shorter player 1 on 1, hoping for a waist tackle.

When Wallace kicked the field goal, I would've liked to see Cartright swapped with Yeo..
The few times he had his arm (carrying the ball) free, he couldn't offload because there was no-one anticipating it on the inside.
TalentScout wrote:
No's in running the metres.. We get pounded week in week out around ruck because of 1 out garbage.. The only time we should be running one out is when a winger scoots.
We have 2 of the most dangerous dummy halves in the game, yet we don't play to their strengths?

When we ran in No's, it gave us more time to execute and also gave Api/Lewis Brown the opportunity to make yards from dummy half.

Finally something to smile about. I wasn't sure going into this game, but was absolutely sure that we had to win to have any show for the rest of the season. Really, the tigers are not very good & if it hadn't been at Leichardt I would have been pretty confident.

Good performance across the park & a win playing football is always good for the team and the fans. Still a few too many errors in the first half.

The Pastor 4 tries!!!!!! The Beast was back. Whare best game since last year - when he is up against a lesser opponent he can really have a field day. Good metres up the middle & a pretty good kicking game (not goal kicking).

Let's back it up on Friday!

Very pleased with that effort. We played with purpose and confidence.I think some people these days refer it as "getting your mojo back"?

Whatever it is,it was a good feeling in waking up this morning and knowing that not only did we win,but for the first time since round 2 have we scored more than 30 points.

In fact, realistically we should have dumped 50 on them.

The second half was the key, where did they find that "spring in the step"?

It was so obvious that they all went up a cog in the 2nd half. Need to bottle whatever it was because without that effort in running we are no hope.
