Half time:

Panthers 10 (Simmons, Mansour tries; Soward 1/2 goals)
Dragons 10 (Mata'Utia try; Widdop 3/3 goals)

Probably a fair reflection of the first half. Dragons dominated the first 20, we dominated last 20.

Thanks for the updates Mutley - Couldn't watch as I was at work :( Sounded like a pretty sub-par game from both side from what I heard on the radio

It wasn't the best of games from the Panthers, but considering the talent we have on the sidelines, and playing with 16 players (Taylor with a broken hand and was out for 90% of the match).

Not sure what the Dragons excuse was though, if they make the finals they will only be making up the numbers.

Like most of this season, I watched this game wondering "what if we were at full strength?"

I think our first choice backline (Moylan, DWZ, Whare, Idris, Mansour, Soward, Wallace) would have run riot over the St Merge defence. Unfortunately with only 2/7 playing last night, we just didn't have the finesse to put them to the sword when he opportunities arose.

A game that pretty well epitomised our season. Short on troops, effort was there, too many errors, one lack of trust in defence, failure to convert line breaks into tries & we again lost a game there for the taking.

Some good signs again from some of our up & comers, who will be all the better for the experience. Oh, and finally we saw a shot of IC with some emotion :)

For weeks now I have been saying the dragons were gone & they will just be making up the numbers if they make the finals - confirmed.

It's been a looong season.

Yeah everything Mr Walker just Said.
Personally, that was a shit match, Another major injury during the contest not for the opposition but for us. Left us with with two hookers on for most of the match. And I understand now why Lewis Brown never passes the ball, nearly every standard ball he passes gets intercepted. I have been a Sika Manu fan! but he has bundied off now. I think he gave away at least three but probably four late in the count penalties. Even the ref said to him "your whole team was back on side why did you do that". He dropped the ball about four times as well. That was eight errors from a senior player. If that didn't cost us the game those two plays by Will Smith at the end did.
Peachey is an unbelievable tackle beater they should put him in the centres. In place of Yeo in the short term but as a backup for next year also. They have put him everywhere else but not in the centres. Put Yeo back in the forwards - he is too slow out wide. Will Smith to 5/8, Moss or Simmons into fullback. Looks like Ivan would rather jump off a cliff than put Issac John in, and it is hard not to agree.
Ps. why didn't Soward go for the goal at 12 all when we got a penalty in front.

I thought we played well, matched them in the forwards and broke even in the backs , would have won if we had had 2 fit and genuine halves, Soward controlled the game for 90% of the match [and that i half against their 2]

If Manu doesn't make an error or give a penalty, we flog them.

If they don't have the tripper in there side, we flog them.

Other than those 2, I thought it was a pretty even contest, problem is, they look like making the 8

That team we played, is a team that at the moment, is a top eight quality side?Seriously?

The NRL may as well just skip to the Prelims with the top four teams, because there is no way teams like the Dragons are actually going to do something in the finals.

Shit, even if we just had our regular centres in Whare and Idris playing we would have won by 20+, easy.

Same story i guess, in my opinion though with our current team we're a competent strength and conditioning staff/program or a lucky season with injuries(going to cater to everyone's beliefs) away from our third premiership, that and actually getting some decisions going our way(still not sure if the Benji call was right or not as i haven't seen a replay of it).

Good luck or bad luck we are only one win [or lose] away from the wooden spoon. For a team tipped to be in the finals I guess we are failures.

We are failures this year, there is no doubt about that. The people that are paid to keep players healthy have failed. As a result, we've needed to field rookies playing out of position and expect them to be as good as our top stars.

It's possible, but with the team losing players literally every week, it has become a very disjointed and forgettable year.
