Media mistakes and poor fact checking

Penrith Panthers NRL
1

Thought I would start a thread on media mistakes - focusing on the Panthers of course, but you can add others you hear as well (as long as it doesn’t go too far off-topic)

First up a couple of things I have read / heard over the last week.

Penrith went from wooden spooners in ‘02 to Premiers in ‘03 - Luke Lewis on ABC radio

Sorry we Luke, your memory fails you, we finished 12th in ‘02. We got the spoon in ‘01.

Newcastle hasn’t defeated Penrith since 2018 - match preview online on the prelim.

Sorry, but again the game last year (or was it the year before?) in Bathurst I recall Cogger having a field day against a depleted Penrith side.

Now for an off topic, yet still sport related one. In news story of Angry Andersons passing (RIP), they mentioned him performing at the 01 AFL grand final at the MCG. I recognised from the footage and 30 secs later on Wikipedia confirmed that game was at AFL park / Waverly, not the MCG.

I guess s the point of this all that if only people did a little research they could check facts.
