Our pathways are like those old backroad truck highways in outback Queensland… the vultures know where to find the roadkill, just like how the other clubs know where to circle to find top talent.
Why work hard on developing your own talent when you can poach off the Panthers. It is disappointing that the NRL encourages this with their salary cap.
I might be a bit out of step here, but I like the State Championship game. I don’t think it detracts from either side’s achievement of being the best team in their state league, and it gives one team the chance to have bragging rights as the best state team in the country. As far as showing off talent goes, if I were a player, I’d be all for it. Penrith - or whatever sides are playing - can’t keep all their homegrown talent, and if I got a chance to show my ability on a big stage, and maybe get a step-up to an NRL contract, I’d grab it with both hands.
Good luck to all the players on Sunday & I hope the Panthers smash the Dolphins like we did in the NSW Cup GF!
I think it’s sometimes hard to really appreciate how hard of a gig being a NSW Cup or Q Cup Coach actually is.
Your team feeds into First Grade, so your team will be picked to replace injuries, and thus need to manage a team who has a revolving roster, and dealing with the disruptions that brings every week.
To make it to the top with all those barriers is a real challenge. Again, congratulations the Coach Eisenhuth on getting the boys there in his first year in the coaches chair. The NSC will also look pretty nice in the club house.
Those circling vultures will always include the Easts Rorters, and they’ll then claim them as their own juniors and expect some sort of dispensation under the absurd suggestion that they are a ‘development club’. As the saying goes, if something stinks then follow the money.
Shame. After such a shit day with the prelim final, I’d hoped the NSC Cup might give a bit of redemption. Instead, it’s just an embarrassment. I realise they’ve won the NSW Cup GF, and may have put the cue in the rack, but this effort reflects very poorly on the team, and leaves a sour taste to end the year on.
A truly awful display. Not worthy of the club and not a good look.
Congrats to the Dolphins. Worthy winners & champions.
