well we know what Broncos side turned up in the first half, question has been put to us and its now for us to respond.
Nice try to Sorenson and might show the way for our attack in the 2nd halfâŚif they want to rush up and close off our attack out wide, creates opportunities for players running at angles.
Its a real contest, could be 12 all if their FB didnât tear his hamstring.
nice win boys but has me beat how the ref puts Cleary on report for a tackle and Luai has his hair pulled and everyone missed it.
looks like we are targets for dirty play and the refs are turning a blind eye to it
Comfort from that win was we were still clunky
Enjoy boys
It seems strange to say that our attack looked off when weâve scored 40!!! We seemed to do better from individual efforts than set plays tonight. Probably shows the gulf between us & the opposition.
That said, itâs another win, letâs enjoy it.
Amazing how so many poorly playing teams lift when they come up against the Panthers. St George, Bulldogs, Broncos. Souths had been playing poorly until they played Panthers. And Knights have playing poorly since playing Panthers. Everyone puts more effort in trying to knock over the premiers, rather than play a consistent season.
In other newsâŚ
I was talking to my cousin who is a few months older than me & probably the relative Iâm closest to yesterday.
All these years I thought I knew him, but yesterday he came out of the closet. For over 40 years I could have sworn I knew him better than almost anyone.
I always thought he was a die hard Manly supporter.
I donât know how I will live with the shame of being related to a Broncos supporter!!!
Good strong win. 40 points bagged make us hard to beat in anyoneâs book.
Sorenson has a step ??? nice.
For the playbook, 10 metres out give it to Spencer !!!
Our left side conceded on 2 kick and chase, need to brush up on defending same.
Donât you just love a âgood Fridayâ ?
It could be worse - he could support the Eels.
Regardless of this I think you should seek counselling.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Broncos certainly ran out of the blocks ready to fire, tested our left edge repeatedly. Besides Staggs showing up Tago and May, our weekends in the first half was pushing the pass and being impatient.
Second half was completely different as the score shows.
Sorensen close to best on field. His determination for that try was a sight to behold as he was running towards me. High run metres for the game too.
Staines had one of his best games for us in my opinion. Topped the run metres, and flawless in defense. Great work for his try. Getting better and better each week and becoming a well rounded footballer.
Martin had a great game - that cut-out pass to Staines was magic. Terrorised Reynolds with his defense all night.
It wasnât lost on me that Stainesâs try occurred when Critta went back to fullback. I am starting to get the impression that Critta is not as good a centre as he thinks he is. Number of times in attack this year he holds the ball instead of passing early to Staines.
Another big crowd - Hill was at or above capacity yet still a fair few vacant seats in the stands. Brings up issues with the new stadium of how many seats to allocate for GA vs members, and also how to re-allocate members seats.
The security went one better this week - didnât just break up the beer snake, but evicted the guys who built it, then a family who supplied them with cups. Such a danger to the crowd (sarcasm intended).
All in all another great night. 20 wins in a row at home! Itâs hard to see us loosing at home this season.
Bring on us clapping the raiders fans again!
I have to give credit where credit is due. I thought the Broncos played pretty well last night for the most of it. Reynolds kicking game kept the Panthers kick returns rater short for a bulk of the first half. Some enterprising play caught the Panthers off guard and got on the board early. The were looking the good until Sorenson parted the Red Sea with a clever step and go, leaving the defence in his wake. Going into the shed 12-6 down would have hurt the Broncos just a little bit, as they may have been the better side.
The second half was all Penrith. They regrouped from the early pressure from Brisbane and made them pay. The Broncos were getting hit from all over the park, the defensive line had no time to rest as it was continually getting tested by Yeo, Cleary and Luai.
Sorenson would have to be my Man of the Match, it would truely be the best game of his career. His stats were phenomenal, his attack was sharp with a game topping 2 line breaks, 5 tackle busts, and 223 running metres (with 65 PCM). Need I remind you all he only played 36 minutes.
Edwards got tested a lot last night, and he delivered. Sadly he struggled to get back into the game after the Sin Binning (terrible call). The trainers tried to get his legs warmed back up, but he still seemed to be having hamstring tightness and cramping. It was a good call to take him off for the rest of the game. The game was in the bag, and it wasnât worth risking.
I would echo the comments @SouthernHillFan has made regarding Martin and Staines, amazing effort. I donât think there was a player out there that I was unhappy with their performance.
Though I would also like to mention Eisenhuth. That man has taken the opportunity to start with both hands and delivered, his intensity and metres this season have been excellent. With Leota returning in a few weeks and having Eisenhuth and Sorenson on the bench, our forwards will be one of the most lethal in the league.
I finally got to snare a pie this time around⌠I had to trek all the way over to the Eastern Grandstand Canteen from the Western Terrace, but got my Pie and Beer, making by way back around via the southern hill, it becomes obvious that we need to upgrade our stadium (as sad as it will be seeing the old one go) it was like squeezing your way through a torrent of people. The facility is in dire need of an upgrade.
its interesting how we see Critter for cramping Staines and i actually see Villi with the same issue.
perhaps its more a flow on from our forwards not bending the other side back and as such Critter and Villi have less roomâŚjust a thought
another thought could be, we simply have too many options and at times we over complicate things and we need to simplify our attack
Cleary also has been doing some odd things in attack and quite a few times tried to break lines but got swamped, which is many ways in understandable but i sense he may have just lost a little pace off the mark.
That being said we have a bigger conundrum in how to fit Leot and Too in the run on squad and on form would be hard to fit either into the teamâŚsuperb dilemna but is one for IC to deal with.
especially difficult given the form of Lenui, Sorenson, May and Salmon who has been super reliable in his cameo run ons.
Its a great problem considering we are winning and at times easily and points to areas of improvement which can only be more concerning for the opposition.
maybe, just maybe we are at or on the threshold of the great cultural change at Panthers where âexceptionalâ performances become the normal.
Now that is worth salivating over.
20 wins at Penrith in a row. After we beat the sharks at home in 2019, who would have thought we would continue winning there for at least the next 19 games. From what i understand, the only teams with a better record are those insane Dragons teams that were impossible to beat.
While the early season injuries suck, itâs good to get game time for players like eisenhuth, May, SOS, Salmon etc. We will definitely need them during Origin time.
Iâm so looking forward to the viking Panther Clap on Sunday!!
Hi Steamboat,
with the emergence of May & Tago on the left I reckon Villi has improved on last year position wise. Maybe he canât keep up with the youngâuns. I reckon some of our issues are with the playmakers Cleary/Luai. We lack variation. Most of our play is right to left. Itâs left to Yeo to straighten by drifting back across to link with Liam Martin whoâs running right to left. Pretty scary to think with a Tweak here and there, we can get better.
Nb does Koroisou venture right or blind side ?
I donât get why security need to do this. Itâs a bit of harmless fun.

i agree Villi has improved but despite a couple of cracking games his form has come off a little imo
on Api, he is another concundrum for us as he leaves and i doubt Kenny has his âx factorââŚhe has a work rate but just doesnât seem to be able to unleash like Api does.
On Api, i would make him work the middle 3rd and either side to Cleary and Luai and agree, its a brilliant problem we are blessed with too many options.
