PREVIEW
A week is a long time in Rugby League and this week is no exception. Anthony Grifin has been shown the door, and the team has a new direction under new interim head coach Cameron Ciraldo and interim assistant coach Peter Wallace.
The team named on Tuesday has not changed much from last week, the only real change being Regan Campbell-Gillard moved in to the starting squad, with Moses Leota moving back to the bench.
The last two appearances from the Panthers, while emerging victorious has left fens underwhelmed, and left some to question the teams premiership credentials. This match against the Titans should go someway to seeing where the Panthers are at with weeks to go before the finals campaign begins.
this is a must win and must win well for me,
otherwise forget all the premiership hyperbole.
Forget the events of the past week and get on
with it. Let’s see what you’ve got Panthers !
Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t this the former panthers reserve grade coach vs the former panthers u/20’s coach? Or was Ciraldo coaching flegg when Brennan was coaching Reggie’s?
I know I have said it before, and sound like a broken record, but after watching the ISP game and this one there is daylight between Egan and Katoa. Hopefully May gets good game time.
Leota having another shocker, Andy Saunders played well in Reggies. Just sayin’
Come on panthers, control the ball and complete your sets and you’ve got this
Our defence was better this week, but we put ourselves under a lot of unnecessary pressure with stupid errors & penalties. We still look lost in attack for most of the game.
Wash and Repeat. Dress this win up any way you wish, but this was a poor performance. It may be understandable considering the week all of us (supporters included) have gone through but this looks less like a team storming into the final but rather a team desperately trying to hold on for dear life.
Just look at the stats. Sure, we got the two points in the end, but these stats don’t look like they belong a premiership winning team a few weeks out from the finals. had this been a semi final, we would have been buried in the first half and the hole left to fill would be so dark you wouldn’t be able to see the light from the top. Then the second half the opposition would put the sword through us.

Like I said, maybe the drama from this week played a role, maybe not. Hopefully something better better can be mustered up against the Knights next week, It’s only going to get tougher from here, and if we keep serving that up, our luck is going to run out.
A one point win against average opposition hides
some significant issues we need to overcome to
be considered a real title contender. Let’s face it
our form has been questionable for months now.
Forget who the coach is or was, 'bout time the
players took some ownership of their premiership
challenge. A major disappointment in my book.
I’m just trying to look on the bright side of what was otherwise a woeful performance.
I couldn’t believe we got worse after half time, we just didn’t look like we wanted to be there.
To many errors, missed tackles and penalties. Very low completion rate.
Whare probably my mom, not sure who actually won it.
Agree with all the posters here, some changes obviously have to be made, but have we left it to late to try it or start go to what we have?
Replace Katoa with Egan
DWZ to fullback, Peachey to centre, Blake to wing
Kikau to play the second 20 of each half from the bench.
Hetherington back to reserve grade
Maloney given a week off, May to 5/8.
God knows who on the bench
It shows that our position on the ladder belies our form that we are even having this discussion at this stage of the year.
The dragons loose and we are in 4th.
Hard to believe, but at the very least we are getting the two points at the end.
A long way from our performance against the dragons earlier this year.
Headlines from Gold Coast Bulletin tomorrow. Gold Coast police have issued a warrant for 17 men from Penrith area in regards to a robbery from a local football team.
And that sums up yesterday:roll_eyes:
