Trent for whatever reason did not progress in line with his early potential, and sees a number of players ahead of him in the Panthers NRL pecking order. He had that stupid thing that he did a couple of years ago, which maybe was part of what’s happened.
Roster management is a vital part of modern NRL & “you can’t keep them all”.
Clubs seem to be paying particular attention to players who have come thru the ‘Panther’s system’. Clubs taking on our ‘likely not to make it big’ players is not something of concern for in my mind, although Bellamy is a master at taking players to another level when they get there.
Ironically it was the other way around, we poached Toleau from the Storm development system, and now he is returning to where he started his rugby league journey. Good luck to him, he certainly has the talent, he just seems to be down the pecking order a bit at Penrith.
Oh, I didn’t know where he came from before he was ‘here’ - thanks for that info Steve. I just remembered him showing some good skills in JF & Cup, before he started to play of bench a few times in NRL.
I spoke with him at a members event in late '23 - he had played for Tonga by that stage. I was travelling to Tonga shortly after and asked him about any contacts he had there. He said he had never been to Tonga.
Anyway, all the best to him
