Oh gee. I don’t have that bad of an issue.
I do seem to get that exact issue at times with the NRL website though. like lowest quality stream possible from time to time, sometimes Kayo starts at that and then realises it can handle more and goes up.
It could be a setting on my devices that needs changing. But unfortunately I could not get anyone from Kayo with a half a brain to help. I have gone through all their handbook suggestions like reinstalling the app and clearing the cache, with no improvement.

Out of curiosity how old is the tablet exactly?
So the Kayo app is responsible for streaming the video data, but the device is responsible for rendering that image on your device. Since you stated it works find on the TV an they are on the same local network (wifi), I would think the device may be the issue… not Kayo.
Older devices do struggle with the rendering, especially at higher resolutions (like 4K). If it is working find on the television but not on the tablet, I would suggest the problem may be with the tablet itself (mostly the processing power of hat device).
The phone and tablet are a few years old, but not ancient. I was able to watch the Sharks Tigers game on my phone using the Chrome browser, using the stadium wifi, through a VPN. The resolution was fine.
I am pretty sure that they are different apps between the tvs and the Android devices.
Anyway, as the Chrome browser solution works for me, no need for the Android app. Just disappointed about the lack of support from Kayo. Espcially as it such an expensive streaming service compared to other sports streaming services.
