Panthers announces 2022 Tarsha Gale Squad

The Penrith Panthers have returned to the Tarsha Gale Cup with a strong squad of talented women representing the Penrith Districts. Penrith did not compete in the 2021 competition with complications due to COVID-19 amongst other challenges, but look to make a impact in the 2022 season.

The Panthers were the inaugural champions of the Tarsha Gale Cup in 2017 where they defeated the Minor Premiers Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs 26-18 in a hard fought match

The Tarsha Gale Cup the Under-18s Women’s Competition provides a vital step for young women progressing to the elite level. This competiton feed into the NSW Women’s Premiership, then into the NRL Women’s Premiership.

Good to see, does anybody know though why we have never fielded a WNRL side?

Surely it isn’t due to lack of local talent

I’m not sure on the club side. But on the NRL side they have taken the strategy of growing the competition slowly. They are adding this more teams this season (Newcastle, Parramatta and Gold Coast), with the Warriors withdrawing this season due to COVID and travel restrictions.

I imagine if this year does well they will be looking to take it another step further and adding more.
