To be honest, I don’t remember a great deal about David Greene, so I have to base my opinion on his 1990 Grand Final performance, which I consider to be solid.
Rhys Wesser is arguably our best attacking fullback, although his defence was never the greatest.
I consider Greg Barwick & Dylan Edwards to be very similar types of players. They are both capable defenders, with the ability to create something in attack, and have plenty of football smarts about them. I see Edwards as a slightly better attacking player, but Barwick as a slightly better defensive player.
That’s an easy one, Wesser had the explosive off the mark speed that could turn a game. I expect with the forwards we pick, Rhys is a must !
yeah Wesser is a hard one to overlook, but I reckon edwards is almost a better ‘allround’ footballer.
Puss, Agree but in the context of the header, we are picking a team for the biggest game, not 26 rounds.
Looks like I am not allowed to vote???
Anyway, I would have to go for Rhys, even though he took a few years off all our lives at times.
Greene & Barwick were journeyman players who did a job, but Rhys was excitment plus.
I think Edwards may end up our best ever GF fullback, with his 1st GF coming very early in his career.
Not sure why it closed the poll, but it’s open again Mr Walker.
Rhys. With Dylan Edwards a close second.
I remember both Greene & Barwick. They were both good players but, in the 1990 GF, Ricky Stuart kicked Greene to death & won the game for the Raiders. I don’t think Greene did much after that game.
To be fair Bryan, Ricky kicked alot of people to death with the Steedens they used back then !
Nothing better than hitting those balls sweetly and getting the perfect torpedo spiral.
He sure did, Kev. I wasn’t having a go at Greene, just remember tearing my hair out watching the game - which explains my hairline now!
All of the fullbacks named were good, but only Wesser could create a try from nothing. Edwards definitely next best - very under rated and getting better with experience.
