Plenty of nervous moments in the second half, but we got the job done.
That game was too close. Roosters came to play.
Talk about refs and bunker not wanting us to win. Jesus.
We’ve gone away from inconclusive evidence = refs ruling stands and no challenge lost, to making a guess based on hand positions and who likely got there first? Wtf
The most backwards of fwd passes called I’ve ever seen, despite missing actual fwd passes.
How did roosters not have a man in the bin? Leniu and whoever else came in from a miiiiiiile away.
Now Cleary injured and sweating the MRC

That was a hard game. Lucky we have the week off after that. Hate to be the roosters needing to back up
Continuously slowing the play the ball, but hardly any guess agains for us.

Was it just me or were the roosters laying all over the hooker area of the play the ball in the first half and not even attempting to get out?
No, it wasn’t just you.
Yep Gog. If anyone is ever in doubt about contrived results (PVL has already shown his colours), today’s disallowed try (McLean would certainly have scored)via that forward pass ruling settled the argument. Every week of the NRL there are probably 50 or more passes that are more forward than today’s and yet are let go (phrases like ‘backwards out of the hand’ allow the ref to imply relative motion that makes it all OK). And wasn’t Jenkins hit around the chops, but no problem, just play on. No wonder players lie down until the video ref gets involved, like in soccer. Finally, it’s a brave person who expect the judiciary to give Cleary a fair go; regardless WTF was Cleary thinking (like when he used an opponent as a pile driver a few years ago).
I don’t know why they charge down like that. No good can come of it.
He should be fine. ![]()
Can’t find much in the way of precedences.
https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1Hij6GRb8J/ this was grade 2. Treys was way worse, basically collects the kicker with the shoulder and injured the player.
everyone else is grade 1 or less. Curran on Luai comes to mind. Fairly comparable I think.
Doesn’t even get fined.
Our defence was on great display yesterday afternoon, but our attack was a little clunky. To their credit, Roosters defence was solid. We had great moments of momentum and field position and wasn’t able to capitalise.
Roosters second try was amazing fingertip control.
One pass in particular from Yeo showed his torn pec, really struggled to pass to his left.
Kenny’s passing was well below his usual standard. Quite a few a tad too far in front or down around knees. Moses spilling one comes to mind.
Hopefully blowing the cobwebs out and week off to get ready for (probably) the Wahs at allianz
Good to hear about Nathans Grade 1 charge, I don’t believe it should be any harsher than that.
- It was clear there was no malice intended, it was clear it was a chargedown attempt
- The kicker was not injured or affected in anyway.
- Nathan has a pretty clean record regarding this type of offense
- He was Sin Binned during the game
You would think that would be punishment enough. I glad sanity prevailed with the MRC. The media was blowing this up deluxe.
On another note, I did not see it mentioned here, but credit is where credit is due. I think Blaize Talagi had a great showing yesterday. He really show his defensive chops out there. He was heavily involved in tackles, and made some clutch tackles as well. I felt it probably was his best defensive effort yet. I think he really took the opportunity to show what he is really capable of.
Not only that Steve, his coming out of trouble hit ups really gave us some momentum as well. He had a great all round game IMO. I don’t usually give MOTM to backs, but Dyl was a next level standout for mine…unbelievable.
I was saying to a mate just last week that we should give Talagi a run in the centres. Ivan must have overheard me.

Should have charged Savala for kicking Cleary. ![]()
I said to a mate when I saw Blaize named, that I wondered if being that extra man further out was going to make it easier for him. Either they didn’t target him well enough, or it may have been a point of difference.
Credit due to him though, it was his up and in defence that put the pressure on for the last try.
I did however swear profusely at the TV when Talagi decided to climb back over the Roosters play to get to marker, instead of rolling off the side.
I also think Jack Cole deserves some appreciation though. Whilst he is less sparkling in attack, his defence is generally rock solid.
Agree with the comments on Blaze, I myself was a little concerned, but trusted Ivan would have had him training in the centres the last few weeks if he was going to make that call. In the end he had a good game, it seems his more natural position - a bit like Burton but different.
Dylan was an easy MOTM, he’s in fine form again for sure. He could outlast an energiser bunny all day.
I for one was not concerned about our attack. We were playing a good defensive team with structure. Those teams we wear down through attrition and field position which is what we did.
How good was Leota’s charge at the line that set Cleary up for the field goal? Reminded me of the ‘23 Grand final comeback.
All is all we controlled the game and got the result. Know doubt we have left a few trick plays up our sleeve.
We won’t have any idea of Clearys injury till after the Grand final I think. Remember the foxing in ‘21 with Dyl in a moon boot? Ivan will keep them guessing
