R16 Warriors v Panthers - Game Day Thread

:mega: Panther Pride Man of the Match voting is now open here.

And our next game is against the Bulldogs. We have a short turn around and they are coming off a bye. Who writes this stuff?

A great forwards lead game, Moses was arson from the kickoff, ably supported by Smith in the middle, and a huge game from Sorro on the edge.

Another huge game from Milky - from Metro cup to Origin camp in half a season - wonder what a punt on the Clive Churchill would pay :joy:

A great team effort. We have put the competition on notice!

That effort was certainly one to be proud of as a Panthers supporter. The senior playing squad stood up and lead from the front.

The forwards were excellent. Leota, Smith, Sorrenson, Garner, Papali’i, Eisenhuth, Henry were all super effective, and found it hard to fault them. As Ivan said, it wasn’t the most polished of efforts, when we made an error or mistake, we brushed it off and got back on task.

I can understand the lack of optimism going into this one, the Warriors were on a hot streak, sitting on third, at home playing in front of a full house with a near full squad, playing a understrength Panthers team, who are still trying to find their feet this season, missing 5 representative quality players.

I don’t think the Warriors played that badly, they were just outplayed and out-enthused by a hungry Panthers outfit that was out to make a point.

It was one of the best performances this year and may be the impetus for the late season push.

… also I was happy to see that Schneider was impactful in the match, validating my previous support earlier in this thread.

A great display across the park. I had my fingers crossed for the game, but, without our SOO 5, the memories of the knights game lingered.
I don’t think the warriors played badly, we played well enough to beat them.

The pack (starting and benchies) were enormous, up against a pack that had been laying the foundations for the warriors winning. Moses was outstanding. Sometimes I think he was underated by many as part of our bash brothers, but it was clear to all yesterday that he is amongst the best props in the game, as of course was/is Fish.

We are starting to see the emergence of Casey & Blaize, showing the potential that our coaches see in them.

Not a bad performer for us - well done to all!!!

I think there’s a few teams looking over the shoulders as we are moving up the ladder - even a couple who had us in the rearview mirror and now are in ours.

Maybe it was wishful thinking by me of where we may finish in 2025, but I delayed our departure on holiday until the week after the GF so I would still be here for 5th Oct and the GF celebrations

So proud to be a Panther today. C’mon boys :paw_prints: :paw_prints:

Great defence; what we’ve come to expect over the past 5 years. Hardly a poor performer. Also the run metres statistic was a dominant feature. But the same can’t be said for completions. Every dropped ball places more pressure on the defence, which makes the ‘black wall’ defence all the more impressive. But what’s with Eisenhuth, with his predictable dropped ball in the play-the-ball (with a try to the Wahs following)? When are these professionals going to get that crap out of their games?

Saw that error. It was deemed by the referee that Eisenhuth dropped the ball while getting up to play, but the replay shows Egan clearly pushing in his knee to dislodged the ball. They should have challenged the decision.

He would have lost the challenge, the rule is, don’t place the ball until the ruck is clear. It was the NRL’s way of trying to slow the play the ball without the blight that is the Melbourne defensive style, i.e. 3 blokes laying in the tackle and they all get off 1 x 1…it still happens but now Harry Grant can “get in the way” of the ball to the ground and get away with it.
