I realise this is not Panthers related. But why are broncos playing in Melbourne Victory shirts?
Agree that scheduling a game in 34 degrees and 90% rel humidity is not just stupid, itās dangerous to the players.
The game was a result of the conditions - once one team got a little momentum, itās just played onwards as the defending team were instantly gassed. Tackles missed, passes to no-one, even the most consistent of players having brain fart moments.
At the end of the day we overcome the ambush of the fins having a bye before this game, and even in the heat and humidity the ice man cometh to seal the game.
Milky scoring twice again is becoming unbelievable. Leota doesnāt just know how to motor - for the second week in a row he is playing more like a machine than a man.
Although he made a great break to set up the field goal in golden point, Tago didnāt just look like he hadnāt played this year, he looked like he has hardly trained as well. The run will do him good.
Glad we got the points, even though we won I repeat what I may have said before about Golden Point, would be a better match points systems if it was 4 for a win, 2 for a draw, 3 for GP win, and 1 for GP loss.
The weather is an interesting pointā¦
Firstly, to Darwin: It was about 27 degrees at kick off. Youāre likely not getting much cooler there regardless of when you play, even June/July. The big difference though is the humidity (90%) which, to be fair to the NRL I think that is well above their normal average this time of year. That said, I donāt disagree that a later scheduling to even May would be better to help ensure dryer conditions.
Now to the interesting point: The PNG Chiefs. Port Moresby is closer to the equator and sustains higher temps and humidity further into the year than Darwin. Whatās happening there?
Like Faulco, Iād love to know whatās happened to Luron. We lack a big dominant body off the bench.
Tago had his chance to make a statement and force his way back into the starting teamā¦to my eyes he didnāt do nearly enough and will surely be back on the bench next week.
Heās a very expensive in terms of the salary cap to be playing reserves or bench warming roles. Should he be moved on to create a bit more room in salary cap?
Agree with all the chat about Darwin, which beggars the question of the ref, absolutely no leniency to tacklesā¦..hang on we were the only ones pinged for taking too longā¦ā¦.guess agains. I was hoping Gee wouldnāt go down that road, but apparently itās a Penrith thingā¦..we need to find a way to combat this.
Again on the ref, did anyone else notice the whistle got put away in GP? I mean, it was like, āIāve done my job, draw at fulltime, you blokes work it outā We threw a forward pass that was possibly 2mtrs forwardā¦..nothing done.
What about the Kenny incident (I nearly threw up Goatee when I saw his foot buckle the wrong way when he tried to stand on it) Kodi goes on reportā¦.then Kenny limps off - ref goes back to Kodi, on report and 10 in the bin. Worse still, Tom Gilbert hip drop was even worse from an act POV but only on report because we escaped injury. The decision SHOULD be about the act, not the result of injury or notā¦ā¦.pisses me off no end !!!
Well, certainly in agreement with most that the conditions were not suitable for an NRL game, and I am concerned about what impact playing in that game will hold for the players (both teams) in next couple of rounds.
We did very well to lead 18-0 as we mostly controlled the game in the first half. There are always game-changing points in any game, but I donāt recall one as stark as the one-on-one(?) steal by Farnsworth early in 2nd half. The dolphins had just made an error coming out of their own end, giving us possession in good field position, and the ball is stolen and we didnāt touch the ball again for 15 minutes. It really led to the dolphins coming right back into the game.
We did well to end up winning in golden point, a win like that can make or break a season. The injury to Kenny is disappointing, but we have a good squad and should win plenty of more games during the next few rounds.
