Got to give credit to IC and the team for finding answers to the slump this week. Good win.
Panther Pride Man of the Match voting is now open here.
Yes it certainly is due to his upper body work, paired with Alamotoi speed, it would be hard to shut them down.
YESSSSSS!!!
Further to come
Great to get a win. Best game this year I have seen from Papalii and Moses. Running the ball with purpose creating room for the backs to do their thing. Congratulation to Cleary for the most points for Penrith.
Happy Easter everybody.!
Football can be a funny game sometimes, for all the skill, hard work, attitude and fitness, the difference between a great team and a rabble can often come down to confidence.
We saw a turning point last night, and with almost a snap of the fingers the Panthers we have known for the last 5 seasons come back to play.
Not a poor performance on the park, and was great to see so many stand up to be counted when it mattered.
We play to our best when Nathan doesnāt shoulder all the kicking, and wasnāt that evident last night, with both Kenny and Yeo kicking for tries (both hitting the post too).
We found our attack again, using bodies in motion to best effect. We found our attacking defense again, holding them in their own half.
Players under concern such as Papaliāi, Talagi, Casey played there best game in Penrith firsts.
Our spine stood tall and took control, our middles layed the foundation.
We found our confidence.
That was the type of display we have been waiting for. As IC said, not perfect, but the way to win a game of footy.
Not a bad player, and our tries came from good plays by a number of players. It was good to have our spine in place, and with Talagi having some good moments. News just in with Kenny charged and looking like missing 2 games is disappointing.
Enjoy the week and letās keep it going against the seabirds on Saturday night. All supporters to Commbank!!!
The NRL Match Review Committee have charged Mitch Kenny with a Grade 2 Dangerous Contact charge.
With an early plea Kenny would face a 2 week suspension, if he challenges the charge he could face up to 3 weeks.
Having a look at the Kenny tackle just now, it doesnāt present like the classic hip drop, but it is awkward, and Butcher does straight off. Might be best to cop it on the chin.
The Edwards/Tedesco collision is the big talking point. At the time I thought we were lucky to get away without at least a penalty, but will take the refereeās explanation.
Iām seeing a lot of talk from the uneducated (Facebook experts) saying there was another angle showing Edwards moved to his right to initiate the collision. Looking at it again just now, he was already moving right, so I donāt buy that excuse.
In real time it happens to fast to react, so for the uneducated to call it deliberate is a bit of a stretch.
I guess Kennyās fate was decided when the media dopes gave Robinson his chance to plead his case on the incident & anything else he wanted to sook about when they just let him have the forum at the presser.
Everytime there is contact with leg doesnāt constitute a hip drop tackle. Every time a player gets hurt it doesnāt mean there was an illegal action.
The ref & bunker had ample time to review it & came up with no foul, and now itās 2 weeks out, just because a rorter got hurt, and by the way, played on for several minutes.
No questions of their beloved Robbo by the media hacks, like saying āweāve listened to you again sit there & complain about the rulings again, making complaint & excuses. You got lapped by a team that had lost 5 straight, youāve given them zero credit, not accepted any blame at all. Do you have a comment on that?ā
Okay, Iāve had time to watch the replay and gather some thoughts.
Itās amazing what can happen in the space of a week. The team cohesion and trust seems to be back. I wouldnāt go as far as saying the mojo is fully back, but the signs are there. Dylan Edwards certainly has his back⦠returning to his devastating self. 242 run metres, 123 kick return metres, 61 PCM, 2 try assists, 9 tackle breaks, and a try to boot. He may have been the best on field last night, be there would be at least another 8 tight on his heels for the spot.
Kenny was phenomenal. You can really tell he has finally got comfortable in that Hooking role, and starting to branch out. that sneaky kick from dummy half caught the Rooster off guard, so much so Papaliāi managed to get around Tedesco to plant it. Regarding the āDangerous Contact IIā charge, I donāt think there was anything in it, as it was ruled on field⦠more of an overreaction to Robinsons sulk at the presser. If I was Kenny, Iād challenge it, based on the evidence that I have seen, I donāt think they could charge him. But thatās just me.
Looking at the boys in the sheds at full time, it becomes evident we are not at 100%. Lots of strapping on a lot of our key players, I feel the bye week canāt come fast enough.
Overall a much better performance, and result. Winning can be contagious, and riding that wave can do wonders for our team.
Onwards and upwards.
So, Kenny has taken an early guilty plea. That reduces our chances against Manly and Brisbane; to me, he is irreplaceable from our current roster. Our defence will be sorely tested in his absence.
