Mitch Kenny has taken the early plea for an ā€˜Dangerous Contact II’ charge and will be suspended for 2 weeks. He will return in Round 10 against the Cowboys.

Luke Garner will miss this week due to failing his HIA in the match against the Roosters and will need to follow the 11 day concussion protocol.

TELSTRA PREMIERSHIP

OPPOSITION TEAM

KNOCK ON EFFECT NSW CUP

JERSEY FLEGG CUP

A win tonight is needed to consolidate on last week. We will miss Kenny, but otherwise looks a strong lineup. Both teams will be desperate & the weather forecast is a bit grim.
We just need to find away, which will require minimising our errors.

Will head to the game optimistically.

C’mon boys!!!

We’re not getting the rub of the green. A lot of these have been very questionable too. Going to need to be better in the second half.

I don’t like to bag the refs too much, but I will make an exception in this case. That was up there with the worst I have seen in years. So many questionable decisions. The knock on by McLean when he was kneed in the head would have to be the worst of the lot.

Certainly some questionable decisions against us. Can’t for the life of me see how Yeo was placed on report. That missed forward pass / offside play by the Sea Eagles was woeful.

For us, while everyone tried hard, I hate to do this, but have to call out Sorro for a poor performance.

Yet another trip home on the train from Commbank having suffered defeat. Our ā€œhomeā€ record stands 0/3. Very much looking forward to the Bathurst game in a few weeks time

There must be something seriously wrong. While losing some key players could result in struggling compared to the last 5 years, it does not account for losing this many games and being dead bottom of the ladder. It is not just the new players making mistakes, but the experienced ones as well. It is as if someone has flicked a switch to turn off the team effort. But the NRL must be smiling.

Maybe all the football from the last 5 years has finally caught up with the team + couple that with losing core players both from the starting side and the juniors. All we can do is guess - wish I could know what IC knows. I certainly did not see it happening this way.

Also Edwards still doesn’t look right, was great last week but it’s almost as if he’s tired.

The refereeing was :open_mouth: Manly were offside most of the first half and all these so called ā€œhigh tackleā€ penalties are destroying the game. Someone at NRL HQ must be happy

I wish Ivan could be more open to what the problem is. He’s saying the boys simply need to ā€˜play better’. Surely that’s not what he’s saying behind closed doors because that’s not exactly detailed .

I’m going to back Ivan in, he’s got the runs on the board for me to simply trust that he’s got the answers.

At this stage Penrith will need to win 10-11 out of our last 16 matches just to make 8th. Not
Impossible, but when you start factoring in origin and the amount of injuries and suspensions that will occur that’s going to be extremely tough.

Either way I’ll still be showing up to commbank each time, for what it’s worth.

Does Ivan know what the problem is?

I get frustrated during post-game press conferences. While I understand the need for some level of decorum, it feels like journalists are often too timid to ask the truly challenging questions. There’s a reluctance to push back when coaches or players offer vague or deflective answers. It would be refreshing to see reporters dig deeper, pressing for specifics and holding individuals accountable for their performance and decisions. We, the fans deserve more than just carefully crafted soundbites; we deserve genuine insight into what is going on with the club.

It’s going to be a tough year but as I have said before - ā€˜In Ivan we trust’.

Look I agree it’s no point in Ivan keep saying he has faith in the boys. Since last year we have lost Jerome and Turuva to WT and JFH to NZ that’s no excuse we still have Dylan, Brian (although out for last two games) Nathan, Kenny, Tago, Moses, Yeo, Martin, Sorrenson, Alamoti, and Smith who are not performing. It’s an easy excuse to blame the new guys.
I really think we miss JFH more than anyone that has departed the club in last 4 seasons.
If we could have back any 3 players who have gone since 2020 to help us out who would you pick?
My three are JHF, Kikau and Crighton. although after watching yesterday’s games Api would be most welcome also.

1 half of footy does not make a season and that was proven to us this week. For all the positives of last week 2nd half, IMO Tago is the only one of the identified who can hold his head up, he had a go.

Lindsay Smith needs a stint in reggies, he is simply avoiding contact with ball in hand and that is having a HUGE impact on us, he should have been the JFH replacement, instead we’ve got Cameron Ciraldo the footy player.

Jenkins needs to go, not a 1st grade footballer, Papalii went back to ā€œho humā€ effort…I would rip him a new one and or drop him.

Feel sorry for Geyer, thrown in the deep end and was out of sync.

The ref was worse than all of them and should not referee men…she simply isn’t up to it !!

Scott Sorensen has opted to not take the early plea for a Grade 2 High Tackle and will face the judiciary to seek a downgrade of his charge.

I thought that we should have appealed last week on Kenny’s, as the MRC and officiating is getting totally out of hand. With ZERO challenge to the MRC’s charges, they are firing off like drunken sailors with the charges and will continue until called to order.
Then heard IC speak on the Kenny incident and the view was that the wording of the ā€˜rule’ is so broad in its scope that it would be almost impossible to win an appeal. Time for us to take a stand against this lunacy on behalf of our game.

There seems a total disconnect between the refs/bunker & the MRC interpretations, so let’s see where the judiciary sit in all this. Hopefully commonsense will prevail.

Imagine a 1 week boycott by fans, no TV viewers…the game would get a serious message !!

Magic round, now you see us (and waste our hard earned on bullshit) now you don’t !!

The game was very disappointing. The ref was totally out of their depth, which we all knew beforehand, and the result was chaos thru the 80’. The appointment official needs to be sacked. It is totally wrong to appoint someone who is not capable to do a job - it is actually not the ref’s fault that they were asked to do a job beyond their abilities. It is not their fault that they can’t keep up with the play, can’t have a feel & understanding for the game, have poor judgement & can see a ball grounded when it wasn’t?? You could see both teams were clearly exasperated by the ref.

Again we made too many errors and missed too many tackles, making it hard for ourselves. We are far from the worst team in the comp, but are playing like we are close.

We started well, and were winning the field position in the first few minutes & had Manly trapped in their 10m. Then the obligatory penalty for offside to help the team out of their own end, then a guess again and then another penalty, a missed tackle and we are down 6-0.

We just need to find a solution and start to put some wins together. I can’t see too many options to replace some of the ones that maybe a bit inexperienced, so the boys will have to do it themselves. Get Bizza & Kenny back in asap, and Garner & hopefully we will see improvement - there will still be many winnable games to come.
