Check out this “expert” who claims Penrith has lost its “heart and soul”. This clown has no idea what he is talking about.
The loss of ‘Fisher Harris’ and ‘Laui’ are big no doubt, but we have loss close to of the equivalent every year.
The heart and soul are not found in just a handful of players, it’s in the system, the club culture, the “next man up” mentality.
To suggest that our new recruits can’t live up to the legacy of our losses should have a chat to Garner, Capewell, Sorensen and Alamoti who’s time at Penrith have shaped their careers.
Let the haters do their thing. It won’t change anything.
For my money, as long as we keep Cleary, Yeo & Edwards on the field, we are a good chance of going 5 in a row. They have been the heart & soul of the team for the last 4 years, and will continue to be for as long as they are at the club.
I think that’s pretty spot on… when there is driving of orders on the field the 4 that matter are Cleary, Edwards, Yeo and Kenny. Hopefully we can extend that to our new 5/8 in good time.
Not trying to be a smart arse, but Mutley’s description of Cleary, Yeo & Edwards as the “heart & soul” of the team is the same description the article used for Luia & Fisher-Harris, and nobody has jumped down Mutley’s throat.
I took the phrase “heart & soul” in the article simply to mean that Luai & Fisher-Harris may be the hardest members to replace out of all the players we’ve lost over the last few years. I certainly didn’t think the article suggested we’d just fold & drop our bundle.
Anyway, I agree that if Edwards, Cleary, Yeo & Kenny can stay healthy, we’ll be very hard to beat. And hope that our new 5/8 - whoever he is - makes the possie his own & kills it.
Agree Bryan, it’s all encompassing, from the top level board member through to the latest junior picked at the club, everything in between drives the heart & soul…Yes individuals at various levels can impact performance, but they should never be able to alter the DNA that is built throughout the entire organisation.
