I didn’t realise that they had moved Accor stadium to QLD.

LOL. I’m sure that’s how Queenslanders see it.

I’ll fix that up now. Nice to know somebody reads the game cards.

Ethan Strange to debut with injury to Mitch Moses confirmed.

Burton would have been a good option to replace Moses … he played well last week and he has had experience playing with Nathan.

A few weeks back I was very buoyant about NSW chances in SOO. The established QLD stars were all pretty much playing like bustards, whilst the likely Blues keys were all playing extra well. Haas being injured was pretty much the only real concern.

I failed to take into account imbecile Daley picking a ridiculous lineup for us. Whilst I concede that “Teddy” the media fav is a reasonable pick, even though he tends to clog up the Blues attack so much, I would have gone with Dylan.
It is impossible to understand the selection of Koula, Moses (now out), Young, Radley & Saifiti - WTH.
Also the constant push for Murray, when we already have by far the best lock in the game in the team is confusing. Another big forward would be a better option, especially one with some ball skills like Smith or May.

Anyway the QLDer’s have helped us with some crazy choices also, so we should win.

Hoping our boys get thru unscathed as we have a big game on Sunday night!

Had to laugh this morning on Ch9 when they asked a Blues supporter if he was worried about anyone in tonight’s game - he quickly said Klein

I feel for Edwards missing out, but as a Queenslander, I selfishly am all for Teddy being selected!

I would have been OK with Burton being at 5/8. I think he is in an awkward spot of being too good for centre, but not good enough for the halves.

I hope for two things:

  1. Blues lose

  2. No Panthers injuries

Typical origin BS with different rules to NRL games.

Gee the Blues could be in a different scoreboard situation if they had a defensive fullback in the side.

Well I’ve never felt so disappointed after a WIN.

The whole Ponga send off totally changed the flow of that game, I hate to say it but NSW had no right to win that game. Hopefully the shelf Klein for the rest of the series.

I have to feel for Nathan in that game, the two starting forwards for NSW were dreadful, they gained close to no ground and made it impossible for Nathan to launch an attacking raid. Even after the send off, Cleary had to take half the team a drag them around to get any momentum.

I hope Loz isn’t blinded by the win, because that NSW side needs some changes.

Absolutely diabolical.

Klein even disregarded the Bunker’s advice on the matter. Watching the replays he clearly had his mind made up on a send off, and then says “I hear what you’re saying, but it’s an illegal play”. I can only assume the bunker was advising it to be 10 in the bin since it was shoulder on shoulder, head on head.

It definitely warranted 10 in the bin.

The fact that the Bunker, who is usually calling for more severe outcomes given their many camera angles, slow mo’s etc, was likely calling for a lighter outcome than Klein is… unusual.

Gee, To’o had a shocking first half.

It was good to see Casey shine under the pressure of the occasion.

Disclaimer. I do not like SOO.

Daley could not pick his own nose let alone a decent team.

Klein is abysmal, the bunker is not much better.

Tedesco is a world beater based on his last minute try; didn’t do much else. Poor defensive positioning and nearly always died with the ball.

How good is Casey Maclean?

To’o and Yeo seemed a bit down; how much more does Cleary have to do to get the critics off his back

Back to sanity on Sunday; I wonder if our guys will back up?.

I think the bunker got the call right. There was contact with the head and it warranted a sin bin.

But to ignore that advice and decide to send a player off was flat out bonkers.

As much I belive the send off is going overboard, at least they are being somewhat consistent, what with that rugby sueali guy a couple of years ago, I even remember a Kenny send off for similar.

The starting props and Robson have to go. Poor line movement, poor service from dummy half.

It’s a great pity that Teddy scored the winning try to overshadow what was a terrible performance, let in 2 tries and butchered another.

Cassie looked right at home, he should be right to back up, I’d probably rest Yeo and maybe have Cleary come off the bench against the warriors

I am still unsure about the send-off. In my view, it may have been more appropriate for 10 minutes in the sin bin rather than a dismissal, but I can understand why opinions are divided.

What I find more interesting is the precedent now being set. With Kalyn Ponga facing no action from the review board due to the revised rules surrounding representative matches, it raises questions about where the line will now be drawn for more serious incidents — particularly genuine fights or punches, rather than a 74kg halfback pushing a 110kg front-rower.

It will be interesting to see whether future State of Origin matches are officiated with a little more leniency and physicality, perhaps bringing back some of the intensity and edge that defined the contests of the 1980s and 1990s.

I disagree, it was a send off IMO. Ponga’s distance to the hit means that ALL responsibility is on him to prevent the action, the fact he tucked his arm means that intent to shoulder charge was there. He did initiate contact with the head but the bulk of the injury was the head clash, in this instance that is irrelevant. Listening to Cooper Cronk, he expressed what I always thought the rule was, the bunker is only a support reference if the referee calls it, in the event the referee doesn’t have a decision, he can ask the bunker for review and make a call based on replays. What Klein did (I still think he is a poo ref) is exactly what should happen more often.
