This could be an ugly score line for us - more ex panthers wanting to show us up.

sharks have a great record against us as well
we struggle to handle their style and they had a super win over the Rabbits which is good for them

Well now maloney is out as is Egan

i think due to the importance of this game i would argue for something left field

i would leave Winterstein in the forwards and move either kilau or martin to 6
and of all things you want to do you want to unsettle the opposition plans

sure beats what is being proposed in papers.

cronulla would hate that a

Matt Burton will make his debut at 5/8.

saw that and its an interesting call
wish him well on his debut

anybody know anything about this kids game?

I’ve heard he might be a bit ‘young’ even though he goes good in the 20’s.

A lefty too so that might help him lol

Apparently he is a very structured player, not an ‘off the cuff take a chance on anything’ type so that might help us ATM. The Luai’s of the world, although exciting when it pays off, often cause more harm then good in a struggling team.

I think Burton will be a good addition this week. As Kevin said, he is a pretty structured player, which should work with Cleary as he sometimes struggles with the off-the-cuff style that Maloney and Laui are well known for.

It also adds something that Cronulla struggles with, they play well when they research the team and know how the opposition gameplan flows. Burton would be well of the Sharks radar and should add a bit of X-Factor out on the field this week.

thanks guy
watched a try he scored recently and showed some incredible skill and instincts
that said it was against his own age group…different game when it’s the big boys and will either be ran inspired choice or disaster
i hope the kid goes good and its a great experience for him

Agree the video on him seems good. Reminds me a bit of Steve Menzies in the way he runs the ball, may be just his build and headgear though lol.

Our Central West nursery certainly seems to be producing the goods given the number of Dubbo, Wellington, Lithgow etc players in our first grade team. A good thing we are locking them up away from poaches from Easts and Melbourne.

May take a few seasons, but should pay long term benefits. We have essentially expanded the worlds largest junior league nursery exponentially.

Just have to make this turn into premiership success, not just be a first grade feeder club for the rest of the NRL.

First thing first though - good luck to Burton.

Is this some kind of club record how many juniors we have blooded this year?

Don’t know if it is a club record, but with Burton, Leniu & possibly Chrichton all making their debuts this week, I believe that will put us at 7 or 8 for the year (To’o, Naden, Cartwright, Kenny, Martin being the others)

Whare playing Canterbury Cup, Chrichton will debut tonight

That’s good, I thought whare was pretty average last week, almost as much sideways running as sauce :scream:

mmm interesting move
gees its cold and worse still windy
i hope we play smart and to the conditions
wind will be roaring from the cricket ground end…do you go with the wind if you win the toss?

well well well
finally Cleary runs and breaks the line and we have a kid in Burton who looks like he could be anything

who’d of thunk if you ran straight you may cause the other mob problems
I am delighted we are running straight and hard and at last scoring in their red zone

I wouldn’t let Maloney anywhere near this side who played the first half…we need to replicate the effort but this is a completely different team playing how they should.

I’m wrapped with our performance so far.

Burton - wow

I hope we have this kid signed up, the way he’s playing tonight as my wife says, he could be playing origin in a few years

great win despite a less than good second half
some odd positional changes in the 2nd half by ivan but more for the players to take out of this
was a solid and needed win

still wouldn’t bring maloney back into this squad after how they went tonight

Perfect controlling first half

Gusty determination in the 2nd

The refs tried to play Cronulla back into the game yet we prevailed,

Well done Burton, Cleary, Martin and Edwards. Yes Not to mention Crichton and his game saving catch,

Well done boys over much fancied opposition.

The catch under pressure fron Stephen Critchdon at the end was phenomenal. How cool under pressure was Matt Burton great performance. Well done to all the players…looking forward to going to Suncorp on Friday.
