Only the bridge being washed out (I’m in big trouble if it does), will stop me from going Thursday night.

I think 1-13 pick themselves, Staines on Wing, Critta and Tago Centres, Martin and Kikau in second row (although one of them may not start).

Bench is interesting:

  1. My vote is Kenny, was much better in the trials than Salmon.

  2. Sorensen (no argument here).

  3. Spencer I guess, although he hasn’t trialed.

  4. I would go for Hopegood based on trial form, but Eisenhuth is also available.

  5. Either of the 17’s who miss out

  6. Salmon

  7. Blacker

  8. C. Smith / May / Jennings

That’s how I see it at this point in time.

Unknown if anyone is still in Covid isolation who might upset the natural order of things.

Westfund Injury Update: Nathan Cleary

Panthers Media | 8 March 2022

Panthers halfback Nathan Cleary will miss at least the first three weeks of the 2022 NRL season as he continues his recovery from off-season shoulder surgery.

While there has been speculation Cleary would be available to play as early as this week, the Panthers medical, performance and coaching departments have opted for a more conservative approach.

“With a long and challenging season ahead of us, it’s critical that we give Nathan the time he needs to return at his physical best,” coach Ivan Cleary said.

“While it’s obviously a difficult decision and of course we would have loved to have him out there, we believe this will ensure Nathan has the best opportunity to play throughout the year at the level he demands of himself.”

With the Panthers’ co-captain likely sidelined until Round 4, local junior Sean O’Sullivan will make his first NRL appearance for the club against Manly Warringah Sea Eagles on Thursday.

SOURCE

I’m happy with this decision, my concern again will be around SOO and the workload then, so taking every precaution now is common sense.

agree in principle, however the Premiership means everything to me so the welfare of ALL Panthers is paramount. SOO means nothing to me.

. SOO is a Premiership talent equaliser and money spinner that has had it’s day. If it must be played, play it after the Grand Final.

O’h I 100% agree Puss, piss the SOO off, or at least just exclude Penrith players from playing rep football during the regular season !

The fact we are beginning the season utilising our depth is also a positive.

What I cannot stand is the usual pre season hyperbole about a club who hasn’t won a comp since 86 being the headline… :face_vomiting:

My daughter and I are coming down from Qld for the game and while would have loved Nathan to play it is better to be careful now than regretful later

I would have preferred Hopgood on the bench over Eisenhuth.

Not too sure about pairing up Crichton and To’o… I would probably keep them on the opposite sides of the field to cover for the more green Staines and Tago.

Hopefully the weather turns out and we get a clear night for your visit mate.

TEAM LIST UPDATE

J’Maine Hopgood, Taylan May, Kurt Falls, Soni Luke, and Robert Jennings have been omitted and will play for the Knock On Effect NSW Cup side against the Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles

Apparently we have been stripped of the 2003 premiership

2003 doesn’t count because the Roosters had to play in the rain

Late Change

Matt Eisenhuth out, Jaeman Salmon in.

A shame to see them switch off in the final seconds of the half.

The good news is they were the only seconds that they clocked off. Great second half.

Happy with the effort & result. The defence & urgency that has taken us to the last 2 Grand Finals was on display again, and will be the cornerstone of our premiership defence.

I think we have put to bed any suggestion that we can’t win without Cleary. We played a top team, and left them in our wake.
