make no mistake about the rebound effect of a new coach.
players will respond.
the question is the quantum of their response.

Souths are in a major hole as a playing group and as individuals.
The question needs to be asked how much were they responding to Demetriou?
We have named a side which is our best except for Sorenson.

They will turn up for the contest, how long they turn up for is the question?

I see the south’s team list and think who are these players.

As long as we respect the opposition, I see no reason this won’t be the game we click into gear.

I don’t see the Bunnies bouncing back (no pun intended).

The way I seen it they have been under the gun for sometime with their coach on the chopping block. They didn’t turn out and perform then, I doubt it will happen after his axing. The whole club needs the broom taken to it and started over, the damage is systemic, not just a coaching problem.

I might be in the minority, but I think the coach was the least of their problems. A few big personalities in the playing group & behind the scenes are causing more problems than the coach’s ability (or lack thereof).

If we stick to our processes & game plan this should be a no brainer.

Updated NRL Teamlist: Round 9

Panthers coach Ivan Cleary has updated his squad for Thursday night’s match against South Sydney at Accor Stadium.

Nathan Cleary has been ruled out, which will see Brad Schneider move to halfback and Jack Cole on the interchange.

The Panthers will wear the 2024 home jersey for the Round 9 match.

All I hear is how diligent Cleary is with doing the work required. Yet his return was delayed a week, and now missing a game after one week back.

This hamstring seems troubling.

Hopefully can get it sorted and doesn’t tear and miss the season

My understanding is Cleary is being rested due to the short turn around & travel.

Though the reason is specifically the recovery of the hamstring. It was a tough return in Townsville and I’m not sure his hamstring was 100%, as they wanted to ease him back into footy.

I think with the short recovery time it would have been prudent to sideline him for a week. We all know Joe vital he is to the side, it’s best not to rush things when we have more than adequate replacements on the meantime.

Oh Well. More Dally M points for Edwards.

I agree with Mutley. Be interesting to see how they go. Will they put in the effort now the coach is gone or is the team divided over other issues. I also note that Souths don’t actually have a new coach, just the assistant stepping in for now.

Scrappy start. I’m sure that any non-Panthers fans will be calling out our first try for a forward pass. Wonder how many will mention the forward pass (and possible knock on) in Souths first try.

We look like we are ready to run over the top of them. Hope that we can run up a score.

A poor start but we recovered well.

The first south’s try was questionable for sure, the second we embarrassed ourselves.

Edwards gets more brilliant ever game

Easy win in the end, even if we were well below our best.

To me the May try said everything about the game. We were playing eyes up football, they weren’t, and got their pants pulled down.
