Interesting that they have Balmain there, who haven’t played a prelim or equivalent since 1989, but those stats wouldn’t include Panthers 1990 & 1991 games. We should be 7 wins, 2 losses.

With us now qualifying for our 5th consecutive Grand Final, I thought I’d run an eye over other teams who have achieved this (or greater) in the past:

*Souths would have had 1923-9 if a final had been played in 1925. Won 1926-9 (and 1925 as minor premiers).

*Easts 1934-6 would have had 1934-8 if a final had been played in 1937. Won 1935-7.

Balmain 1944-8. Won 1944 & 1946-7.

Souths 1949-55. Won 1950-1 & 1953-5.

St George 1956-66. Won 1956-66.

Souths 1967-71. Won 1967-8 & 1970-1.

Penrith 2020-4. Won 2021-4**

*Souths & Easts won premierships without finals being played

**Result no longer pending

Another major achievement tonight. This list of teams who have achieved the same or better is getting shorter every year!!! Only 3 teams have won 4 or more in a row:

Souths 1925-9

St George 1956-66

Penrith 2021-4

Without doubt Yeoy was the best player in the NRL in 2024

I would suggest the world mrwalker, he is without doubt the greatest all round player in the game today.

They should award yeo immortal status now while still playing.

That and Cleary for coach of the century

Funny you say that SHF, I’ve got mates (Dragon supporters) who talk about hey great NC is, I say is NC as good without Yeo and I’m not just talking about when they are on the field together.

Yeo is the complete professional in every sense of the word complete. Without Yeo, would the Panthers be in the position they end up when Cleary doesn’t play. What about the training paddock, Yeo keeps the standard regardless, but from the sidelines you cannot do that.

I believe Yeo could be the only immortal whilst still playing, Cameron Smith was the closest we’ve (my 52 years) seen but I (maybe looking through Panther eyes lol) believe Yeo has a greater impact on a contest than Smith did. His effort areas are broad and effective. If we need tight defense, he appears to be in every tackle, coming out of trouble…his post contact metres are the best in the game. His fitness is second to none and his decision making as skipper is yet to be faulted. He owns every game…end of story.

And I’d suggest that IC and IY have broad community respect, across the NRL, as humans as much as for their football prowess. It’s reflected in the apparent general club culture, and how they interact with our community.
