In all seriousness, I can see us getting a decent lead, then resting players and/or trying a few things out. I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t make it to 50.
Normally I would agree with you, but we have the bye next week, if we are scoring like mad, I don’t see the need to take the foot off the pedal. Boosting our F/A will help take the pressure off in tighter matches.
I hope the team does not go into this game thinking it is already won. I suspect this sort of attitude may have been one reason for the loss against the dogs and struggling against the dolphins.
we go into the game with the mindset this is already one and the Dragons get their first win of this the season - not by much, maybe even golden point
We go into the game with the mindset that it’s just another game, and once well in front we take the foot off the accelerator- we win by 30+
we go hard for 80 minutes, Dyl runs for 400m+, Milky scores 5 or 6 tries and we win by 72+
The certainly though (which I hate to mention) is that playing the last game of magic round the playing surface will be ripped to shreds, and a player or two will no doubt have ankle injuries.
This is my only real concern with the game. The only benefit is we have the bye following, but getting through unscathed is the key.
I believe we will start the game as per any standard game, i.e. ball in play, complete sets and defend from their end. All going well we get to a handy lead and then use the game as a perfect training run on any new, in progress playbook stuff. I’m looking forward to see how we treat this game.
You’re probably right, SHF. I recall many decades ago, in the years when a wet autumn meant that the playing surface would be a mud bath or a dustbowl for the rest of the year, some bright spark decided to cover the bare midfield with sand. That year it seemed that every second player had an ankle injury. Try to sidestep at your peril.
And, in regard to your suggested 3 possible outcomes, it all comes down to attitude. Hopefully the Scumdogs game will be fresh in the memories, and we won’t end up being our own worst enemy.
