I wasn’t expecting Alamoti to be dropped, but I’m not 2nd guessing IC. He surprisingly relegated Tago to the bench a few weeks back & he seems to have improved since.
Most of the rest of the team was pretty much as expected with Garner, Papalii & Henry out. Fingers crossed for the Origin 5 making it in for Sunday.
Well so far no news of any of our origin boys not playing Sunday, so I guess no news is good news.
We won’t get an early guide to the lineup this week, as Cup play just before the NRL, so the final lineup for Cup won’t be released until around lunchtime on Sunday.
Anyway, whoever take the field for us. we just NEED to WIN!!!
happy to secure 2 points I thought it was a must win game so very pleased.
One observation McClean really needs to pass the ball a couple of times he went for the try line and got tackled when a pass to Milky would perhaps resulted in a 4 pointer.
We are still looking a tad lost in attack but the defence seems to improving week on week. I guess we need to take into consideration we had 5 origin players backing off, no Garner, no Henry and no Alamoti (who was on point in NSW Cup, 7 from 7 on conversions).
It seems now that every game needs to be a must win now. Big game next week against the Tigers… a win banks 4 points on the competition ladder… if he Broncos and Dolphins lose we can see ourselves in 10th going into the bye round.
Good to see Lindsay put the passing on ice today - he and Leota made a big impact along with some good incisive runs and tackling from Sorrenson.
Our origin crew were immense backing up.
Yer credit where credit is due, Lindsay Smith, although still not damaging, did look much better just running it. Gotta also say, Moses showed some real intent in his runs…great to see.
Our left defense stood up also, Blaze was a brute. So glad we beat them…I was feeling sick after 10 minutes, penalty, penalty, guess again try…
Yes, I thought I was having a nightmare and was in a Twighlight Zone episode AGAIN. It is just amazing how the game starts & next thing it’s penalty, penalty, guess again & try week after week after week!
But the worm turned & the game ended with the eastern stand chanting “WE HATE PARRA”
Anytime we get the 2 points it’s a good day. When we beat the slimies it’s even better
I guess IC had some concerns about some of the guys backing up and so went for Laurie on the bench, so we end up using just 16 this week, and so young Harry missed out.
Still not playing at our best, but there was no-one not giving 100% out there and we moved up the ladder - mission accomplished in the weekend after SOO. Still a bit clunky, without the precision we all be came used to in the past 5 seasons, with some passes missing the mark, either an error by the passer who by the receiver, but the timing was out.
The left side looked better, and with NC back, & with the less pressure Talagi looked extra good this week and worked well with Sorro, Casey & Milky.
Not a standout, but Tago made some great runs in the 2nd half to assist the other back 5 players get us upfield.
Dylan is a freak - he was everywhere on the field, and then that pickup on his bootstraps & the perfect cutout pass to Bizza for the clincher was crazy.
I see that Nathan burned those boots from Wednesday night
We go again on Sunday against the tiges - anything other than a win will be unacceptable at this stage. It will be an away game at our “home”??
