Panthers Head Coach Ivan Cleary has revised his squad for Thursday night’s top-of-the-table clash with the Roosters at CommBank Stadium.
The blockbuster clash will also see the NRL celebrate Indigenous Round, recognising and celebrating the rich history, culture and contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We were flat all game. Maybe a hangover from last week. I don’t think any of the Roosters feared anyone in our side except for (and I can’t believe I’m writing this) when Talagi came on. He gave us a mini boost and then proceeded to drop the ball then throw an intercept. I miss the Leota+JFH one two punch
I could see some good things with how IC was trying to get something out of Cogger Talagi and Lussick all at once. Guess he has to due to Kenny’s injury- Cogger didn’t look fully healthy.
But you know it’s bad when DCE runs through your goal line defense, TWICE.
Some positive though, the Roosters have been flying and we only let 2 tries in which includes the first try where we (again) left the front door open.
It’s not all doom and gloom. Lindsay Smith will be better for the run at Lock. He’s got some learning to do in the next few games in case Yeo doesn’t make it back, but had some promise late in the game.
Alamoti is apparently off for scans on his Hamstring which isn’t great news.
That was a tough watch, not from a league enthusiast perspective but from a Panther perspective. Is Ashley Klein gambling again? It was too late in the game but regardless, that in goal touch of DCE before it went dead was clear and obvious. Adam Gee is also heard saying after the initial decision, are you sure Ash, do you want to check that again…
Then there was that strip, he was doing nothing but playing at the ball but Gee was blinded by the action. Klein simply agreed with the decision of the bloke who couldn’t see the act. That is what the bunker is for.
Those guess agains on the 4th and us getting repaid on 1st n 2nd tackles hurt bad ina game of effort like that. What were they for AND would they have been penalties if the 6 agai rule is removed…NO F@#$ING WAY
Walker was offside all night, that intercept on our line, there was 3 of em off the line before the play the ball.
My God - how frustrating - can only hope the "50/50’s go our way in the finals…otherwise we are Kcufed.
Yep, Gogatee. I would have made much the same commentary.
Plus :-
Was Walker off-side when he took an intercept on their goal line.
When Cogger lost the ball (under a flop), should that have been a penalty to us instead of allowing them to attack our line. The Ch 9 brains trust was so intent on analysing why the application of a rule nullified the Rorters’s try, they couldn’t manage to also examine the lost ball.
Every one of NC’s goal line dropouts was lost, putting us under huge pressure.
Before the second of DCE’s tries, the ball hit him before going dead, so that should have been our ball with 7 tackles on the 20m.
Dumb pass of Papill’i to the ball boy.
I’m getting a little tired of hearing how we will learn from the loss. Over recent years, there were extended periods where some new blokes never knew what a loss felt like. By our recent standards, we are in a rut, and missing the top 4 is looming.
We seemed to miss Yeo’s organisation skills more than anticipated.
WTF was Edwards thinking, giving away a penalty in such a tight game?
Tago is showing that we need him in the 17. After To’o leaves, do we move Alamoti to the wing and put Tago back in the centres. He seemed to me to be making the most good runs last night.
The problem is I am starting to notice that a lot about Dylan. He has developed quite the short fuse, not just with the opposition but with his own teammates. He needs to learn to get past it.
I’ve noticed that recently too; a couple of sideline scuffles come to mind.
Yes, certainly wasn’t the first time. Roosters were frequently offside and/or not square. The speed at which they were regularly up in the face of Cleary and co smelt a little off. Moley on facebook has a number of stills showing Roosters on the goal line clearly offside.
There was a lot of dreadful calls.
I’m not sure anyone pointed this out, I think it was around the time Talagi passed straight to the Roosters and killed our momentum. We were on the attack and a very broken roosters defence, struggling to get back. Tago (?) was tackled and spun completely around by his ankle to greatly slow the play the ball down. Not sure what others thought, not sure it even got much commentator commentary, but how that wasn’t 10 in the bin f**king baffles me.
