KNOCK ON EFFECT NSW CUP

JERSEY FLEGG CUP

Olakau’ata seemed intent on removing Eels heads last week, seemingly teflon coated when it comes to suspension. I wonder how many of our blokes will not finish the game this week due to concussion protocols, after Olakau’ata does his thing, before officialdom decides he has gone too far. Maybe Penrith should put in a bulk order for Jurbo-style headgear!

I’d say some liberal application of Moses Leota and Lindsay Smith are in order.

Agree Steve, Moses will make it his business to find out exactly how “tough” he really is.

Manly have come to play, and it has been a good arm wrestle so far. Talagi & Alamoti are finding plenty of holes out wide & are giving Manly plenty to think about.

We are settling into a good rythem here

Looks like a solid game of footy so far.

2 tries off fwd passes. One may have drifted, but the last one atrocious AND Cleary take out.

Good to get away with that one. Between Manly scoring twice off forward passes, and Cogger getting 10 in the bin for what looked like a head clash, it seemed it was Manly’s night. Kudos to all of our players for how they handled the 10 minutes we were short, and the last few minutes with the game on the line.

Not as clinical as in previous games. Ivan will need to work on that.

Refs making sure manly stayed in the game.

Gee I was blowing up at the TV lol.

The two fwd passes actually called were less forward than the two with tries scored.

Coggers sin binning is the softest I’ve seen in a long time. I absolutely hate to see players penalised when they stand tall in a tackle and a player falls into them and there’s contact with the head. There’s no force from the defensive player to the head. He copped more force as he hit the ground.

Good to get the two points, but we really do look panicked in close games (or trailing) at the 60 min mark.

Yer this refereeing caper needs to be audited hard….i get we want to see free flowing football, but the ridiculous amount of “ruck infringements” guess agains being called beggars belief. The ability to influence a game with the whistle is far too easy. That Souths v Knights game was NOT a good footy game.

Cooper Cronk was adamant that the NC obstruction should have been ruled a no try. If you watch the replay, Dyl is further away from the action that NC and gets to the corner as they score, there is no way they can say NC would not have made a difference. F’n JOKE - not to mention that pass that went into tomorrow it was that forward.

Winners are grinners…..now which 18 do we take on next week the Raiders and who is ref?

Once again, it’s easy to become paranoid about bias after that game, specifically the inconsistent treatment of forward passes. It seemed that each contentious decision was not in our favour.

I agree with comments about the interference of Cleary, as would most NRL watchers and commentators. Indefensible.

We’ve had to learn to be the ‘hunted’ over the past 6 or so years. I suppose that I’m being naïve, but I thought that that only applied to the opposition, not the overall system.

Olakau’atu was strong in attack, as usual, but seemed more controlled in defence. Maybe the message got through, with no attempted decapitations.

Tango seems to have found his spot in the starting 17, solving one of IC’s problems. And he can move out into the backs when To’o is on SOO duty, as well as being versatile enough to cover for backline injuries.

Did anyone here think that the Cogger incident was another poor decision, one that would have derailed most teams? And the NRL wonders why so many supporters don’t accept that the game is being adjudicated fairly and competently.

Patea looked good in Cup. He must be close to a recall to the top 19.

In the Cup game we looked like worldbeaters, good enough to test some NRL sides. But we kept giving Manly a leg-up because of inattention to detail. The same lack of care almost cost us this game, maybe due to frustration in an already hard game.

Once Talangi removes some brain explosions from his game he’ll be a potent weapon. Maybe we have to accept that it comes with the territory. He has the ability to terrorise tiring edge forwards. And I suppose that all the media talk about Milky and McLean being so lethal means that Talangi gets more freedom.

From what I could see the Cogger incident was an accidental head clash. I have seen far worse ignored by refs. Player taking a dive gave the ref all they wanted to penalise Cogger. Last night reminded me of U6 games, where if a player cries the other team is penalised.
