They talk about player welfare, surely having players go an extra 10 minutes after an 80 minute slog fest is not considering player welfare as the first port of call.
Additionally, if the scores are locked up with 5 to go, have a ground announcement or a mini siren to tell the players and supporters time is nearly up…there is ya golden point, no toss of a coin, no new rules to avoid penalties, let the game evolve in its natural flow.
I like this idea… kind of like the 2-minute warning in the NFL, just without the stoppage. Just make a small PA Speaker chime (like we already do for 6 Again) that indicates that there is 5 minutes left of play. Hopefully players are already aware of this (time management an all) but a sound can’t hurt.
Some other alternatives to the golden point condundrum;
6 points for win in normal time
5 points for try in extra time
4 points for field or penalty goal in extra time
3 point for draw
2 points for golden point loss from goal
1 point for golden point loss from try
0 points for regular time loss
As far as timing, option to commence golden points if scores are level or become leveled within the last 5 minutes of game.
Some thoughts on in-game scoring changes;
5 - points for a try
1 - point for conversion within 10 metres of touch line.
2 - points for conversion outside of 10 metres of sideline (I.e wide difficult kicks).
2 points for 0-40m field
Goal and Penalty goal
3 points for 40m+ field goal and penalty goal.
Another out there option would be 3 points for an optional conversion try - which would be a single play attempt for try, with some form of dummy conversion goal kick (yes I stole this idea off NFL)
Or forget points for win/lose/draw etc and just use points differential. Be good for us this year when we have lost 3 games by an aggregate of 4 points.

oh boy. If 21’ was Act One, 22’ Act Two, i think we’re getting an early showing of act three. To spend so much time bitching out Penrith players apparently lacking class, when he himself goes and allegedly does this to another person.
Also, all of the other flogs on that program like Crawley who probably knew what he was like behind the scenes, to go on and high ground people like stuart. When in reality, this is the type of people those journalists are. Utter disgrace.
Also kind of sad how Fox themselves are reporting this as Kent dealing with “personal matters”. More than happy to drag anyone elses name through the mud without evidence, but their too classy for that apparently.
Hopefully this will be the end of him, and his mate Buzz can follow him out. Get rid of the gossip columnists who are only reporting the negatives in the game & giving negative opinions about the game. Put in some real journalists, who can give a more balanced view on things.
I heard that NRL360 will be doing a live cross from Silverwater to get Kenty’s take on Ricky and the Raiders win on the weekend, and how disrespectful Luai was after the Panthers win.
Haven’t watched 360 for a few years now. Checked out the start of last nights show, just to see what they would say about Kent. Said he wasn’t there sorting out some personal issues! Really!!!
If he was a player, heaven forbid a Panther, he & his cronies would have been all guns blazing on them.
He had been arrested & charged with assaulting a woman, so he’s been stood down for a criminal offense, not for a personal issue.
Fox League, you are a disgrace!!!
They found out what caused the choke - she called him a Panthers fan
The bloke is a hypocrite and I also watched NRL360 Monday to hear Braith, after about 10 minutes of them getting on to bagging all and sundry whilst dismissing this subject, I switched off and didn’t watch last night either…probably won’t again either. It proves my point that since Ben Ikin’s move, this show is nothing more than a political agenda, might as well be on the ABC !!!
From memory, when the Scumdogs were caught out in salary cap scandal in Anasta’s day, he expressed surprise and ignorance that he had receive some $90,000 more in income than he expected. Apparently it dropped like manna from heaven. At the time I wondered (and still do) if he would have noticed if he had received $90k less that year!
