That’s the thing mrwalker, I doubt any of those standing in line were wanting to drink as the priority.

Lockdown has provided a bit of extra $$ and it is burning a hole in some people’s pockets. I believe only every 2nd MC is turned on to allow safe distancing, I would suggest they were waiting for a ‘SEAT’ to become available, which begs the question, how do you get to your favourite MC?

Which - if the gamble responsibly mantra is real, defies logic because if people are prepared to put their $$$ in any old MC, that to me is an addiction.

To quote Puss “Just sayin”

Hey mr walker, see on news this morn the EU is opening up visitation rights to Australians because they’re regarded as a safe enough bet with Coronavirus. But, this mean we’ve gotta bring them back and quarantine in a swanky city motel at our expense?

I read last week that apparently pokies revenue in NSW for the first week after they reopened, was approximately double the usual average. I guess we know who the addicts are now .

BTW. I did my RSA & RCG Just before the lockdowns, with the intention of moving into pubs, clubs or bottleshops (this idea has been shelved given the state of things). It’s a bit of an eye opener, and to be honest, I don’t think it’s much more than window dressing when it comes to addressing the issues of problem drinking and/or gambling. The people with problems will always find a way around it.

100% Mutley

All these little cliché’s and quotes are being used to hide the real ‘life’ problems.

Naively I thought the break from poker machines would make the heavy users (Addicts?) realise how much money they were losing and hence break them from the habit. Obviously I was wrong - unfortunately.

There is a difference between wanting to quit and simply not having your fix available.

The gamblers would have learnt how to bet on the horses. I heard the TAB volume went up considerably on horses and the like during the pubs / clubs shutdown. They just found an alternate means of “scratching the itch”.

I have given lots of heart thanks for these recent comments.

A lot of very sensible and prudent commentators we have here.

… re Victoria, don’t come to Sydney says Gladys, too which we have a train load pulling into Central this morning. Police and nurses are expected to meet them (bloody well hope so)! Now if so much as 1 of these recalcitrants
objects to testing, turn the bloody train around and send the bastards back.
What is wrong with these people?

forget sensible/ prudent SHF I’m angry !

I’ve got a mild head cold (symptoms) so went for the test, won’t leave the house until the results are received…it’s not that hard.

keep up the fluids Kev. :sunglasses:

30 x 375ml - is that (Fri/Sat) sufficient?

A mild cold won’t stop the beast………

I measure my fluids by pints Kev lol.

Rest up and I hope you recover quickly

pretty tough when you’re fighting a pandemic and uncooperative border hopping victorians. Story this morning highlighting 100’s of vic tourists
homing in on Menindee Lakes district. Not good.

I’ve got a feeling it’s only a matter of time before we are in lockdown again. We already have a cluster identified at Casula.

From what I see on a daily basis driving around the eastern suburbs, the idea of social distancing isn’t being adhered to, so I’m expecting it to start up again around there soon.

Hopefully no lockdown until at least next Monday so we can enjoy our game on Sunday :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

We will be in lockdown again within the month !

I have a colleague from Vic who’s hubby works with a bloke who tested positive. He was in Sydney the week previous to his test, for a funeral. BTW drove up and back so any stops made are potential virus hotspots…

Their is an attitude down there of, O’h well, I’ve already got it, who gives a F@#$

you know what’d really hurt them?
pack up all their AFL sides and send them home.
Maybe then they’d get the hint their not wanted.

They know their not wanted, but being Victorian your oblivious to the obvious…

I continually hear “we’re all in this together”, but someone is not pulling their weight, to the rest of the country’s detriment. I agree with you and Mutley, lock down again is imminent. I also feel we’ve erred in not shutting those borders even tighter. It appears to me a malaise of indifference has overtaken social distancing protocol and now we’re going to pay.
